Piaggio Vespa Launched At Rs. 66,661

We reported about the motorcycle manufacturer’s plans from 2012 Auto Expo this regarding its plans for launching the Vespa LX125 scooter to the Indian market. The iconic scooter Vespa has finally arrived and has been introduced under its original Italian owner Piaggio in India. This introduction show took place in Mumbai today and following the event will be the inaugural ceremony of Vespa facility on 28th April in Baramati. The opening ceremony will be taking place in presence of Group President at Piaggio, Mr. Matteo Colaninno.

The Indian operations of the motorcycle manufacturer will be commencing with a 50-dealer network across 35 towns and will also be starting Vespa clubs. The Piaggio Vespa LX125 is the only scooter to use a single piece monocoque construction, while its powerplant is specifically designed and engineered for the roads of India.  Motivation for the Piaggio Vespa LX125 comes from a 124CC engine, which is good for pulsating 10.06 horsepower at 7500 rpm with 1.08kgm of torque at 6000 rpm. The engine is mated to continuously variable transmission and delivers the fuel economy of 50 kilometers per litre, which is quite fuel efficient unlike other models in the market. It weighs 114kgs and will be offered in 7 colors – silver, red, orange, yellow, black, white and blue. It will be available for the price of Rs. 66,661 in Maharashtra.
